Dear Madames,
Regarding the media attacks against Mrs. Rada Borić and Mrs. Vesna Kesić, activists of women’s nongovernmental organizations, by Mr. Milan Ivkošić published in the “Patriotic naggings” column of Večernji list on June 14, 1998, I cannot make a complete assessment here as I did not watch the TV show “Press-klub” aired on June 10, 1998 to which Mr. Ivkošić’s article refers.
I am not able, as the vice-president of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and as president of the Commission of the Government of the Republic of Croatia for Gender Equality, to publicly comment the personal opinions of Mr. Ivkošić without violating the freedom of press. I can only have a personal opinion about the mentioned article.
I remind you that Croatian citizens can protect their dignity via the reactions sections of newspapers, and certain legal aids are also at their disposal.
I sincerely regret the misunderstanding.
Yours faithfully,
VICE PRESIDENT
Dr. Ljerka Mintas Hodak
